To mark the Global Climate Strike, Manon, Thibaut and Vivien joined forces with secondary school students in Amiens for a simulation exercise based on the Arctic Council 🐧🇨🇦🇫🇮🇳🇴🇺🇸🇷🇺🇫🇷🇨🇳
Filling the roles of representatives from Canada, Finland, the United States, Russia, France and China, not to mention the indigenous Saami and Inuit peoples, the students presented their proposals for tackling climate change.
Asked to conclude the debate by simulating the United Nations, Vivien encouraged each State to go beyond simple words and turn these into tangible actions, whether this be in relation to Earth Overshoot Day, the fight against overconsumption, the protection of biodiversity, the preservation of natural resources or the safeguarding of indigenous peoples and traditions 🇺🇳
Manon and Thibaut then held a quiz designed to test the students’ knowledge and raise their awareness regarding issues such as food waste, fair trade, #PlasticWaste and ocean protection, at a time when over one million seabirds continue to perish each year as the result of such detritus 😱🐦
So, I hear you ask, are we really able to make a difference?
YES, we all have the power to change our habits!
YES, green actions every day can go a very long way!
